As mentioned in a previous post, the mighty Canberra Raiders had the addition of an on field experience after their trial match at Queanbeyan’s Seiffert Oval, home to the early days of the Green Machine.
It was a very hot day, we stopped at a couple of parks in Queanbeyan before going to the game. Getting there close to kickoff time meant a bit of a struggle to find a park in the local area and then a long queue up to get into the ground. We missed the first try, but got in to see Xavier Savage pick up some spilled beans to cross the line and put the Raiders in the lead.
The Cowboys had the victory in the end, with the Green Machine conserving their top line players for most of the game. It was a makeshift lineup that continued to be exposed on the edges.
It was good fun to get on the field and meet a few of the players afterwards. We got the photos seen above and had autographs from some more players. We also brought a footy to kick around and had some fun with that before we were escorted off the ground by the security.
I’ve been to a couple of trial matches at Seiffert before and will probably go again in the future. The previous visits I have included in some vlogs I have made.
