We took our first splash at the Canberra Aqua Park at Black Mountain Peninsula.

With the school holidays coming to an end, I had planned a trip down to the lake. I got an inflatable kayak some time ago and have barely used it. Checking the water quality on the Swim Guide website, the Black Mountain Peninsula area was one of the few with the green tick.

We had seen the inflatables set up and I thought that might be a fun thing to do. We had a splash at the edge of the water in the kayak before going to our 10 a.m. booked session. It costs $22 per person, the same for adults and children.

There are plenty of different obstacles across the course. It was a bit of a challenge to get started at all. There is soapy water on most of the obstacles, so you can use them like a traditional slip and slide.

There are inflatable logs and spheres you can go across from point to point, areas to jump off, slides off different sizes and various ladders to bring you back on if you fall in. There’s another thing you can spin around on off to the side of the course as well.

For the younger ones it is a bit of a challenge to get out on to the main course as not everything is suitable for all ages. They need to be 5 and up to go on the course.

You can find out more information about the water park and book tickets on their website.
